National Walking Day takes place this year on
Sunday 25th September as part of European Week of Sport.

TU Dublin is hosting the 22nd International Walk21 Conference
on Walking and Liveable Communities in Ireland from
Monday 19th – Friday 23rd September.

This year our week of celebrations will support the work
and themes of the Walk21 Conference. Our goal is: All people across
Ireland getting outdoors and #WalkHikeRunPushRoll.

Monday 19th Activities

INTRODUCTION

19th September 2022

Building on the successes of 2020 and 2021, our third annual National Walking Day for Ireland is going to be bigger than ever before! We want everyone in Ireland to participate!

This week as well as our celebrations, the 22nd International Walk21 Conference: The Decade to Change takes place in Ireland takes place in TU Dublin and will explore how supporting and encouraging walking and walking communities can help deliver the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

We will be sharing interviews this week with a range of researchers, policymakers, community groups and real walkers across our social media channels.

We’re focusing on research from Cork and Limerick today. Keep an eye on our social media channels to see our interviews with some of our brightest minds in this area.

We’re shining a spotlight on transforming places in Ireland. From communities to schools to urban planners we will highlight the amazing changes that are taking place across the country.
